Gutter work is two businesses. Cleaning is high volume and price sensitive, and lives or dies on route density and ladder time. Installation is a bigger ticket priced by the linear foot and the material. Both start with measuring the run and knowing your crew's speed.

Setting your labor rate
Start with the wage. The closest group the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes is sheet metal workers, the closest published group for gutter installers. In its May 2025 wage survey, that group's national mean wage was $32.62 an hour and the median was $29.71 (BLS OEWS 47-2211). For gutter cleaning crews, BLS's landscaping and groundskeeping workers group, with a mean of $20.33, is often the closer match.
Add your labor burden on top: payroll taxes, workers' comp and any paid time off. If burden in your state comes to 22% of wages, a $24 an hour tech costs you $29.28 an hour. That loaded number is what goes into the job cost.

A worked cleaning price, with every input an assumption:

A worked example: 180 feet of seamless aluminum

- Direct cost: $558 + $240 + $409.92 + $108 + $75 + $30.40 = $1,421.32
- Overhead plus profit: 25% + 15% = 40% of the price
- Price: $1,421.32 / (1 - 0.40) = $1,421.32 / 0.60 = $2,369
Check it: 40% of $2,369 is about $948, and $2,369 minus $948 is about $1,421, the direct cost of $1,421.32. The profit and overhead are inside the price, not added on top of a cost you guessed.
That is about $13.16 a linear foot with downspouts and tear-off, and the total sits inside Fixr's $2,320 to $4,222 range for a whole system.
