What shutoff valve means
A shutoff valve stops water to the whole house, a branch or a single fixture. Fixture stops are the small valves under sinks and behind toilets.
Also called main shutoff, stop valve, angle stop.
Where it matters on a plumbing job
Old stops that will not close, or leak once turned, make simple jobs grow. Price stop replacement as an add on, and show every customer where their main shutoff is.
