A subcontractor agreement is the contract between a general contractor and a sub that sets the scope, price, schedule, insurance and payment terms.

Pay when paid clauses, insurance requirements and retainage in the sub agreement decide when and whether you get paid. Read them before you sign, not when the payment is late.
