What locking refrigerant caps means
Locking refrigerant caps are tamper resistant caps on the outdoor service ports of a cooling system, so nobody can open the refrigerant circuit without a special key.
Also called tamper-resistant caps.
Where it matters on a HVAC job
They are required on outdoor access ports and are cheap to add. Inspectors look for them on new installs, and they are a quick add on during maintenance on older systems.
What the model code says
