What scope of work means
The scope of work is the written description of exactly what a contractor will and will not do on a job: the tasks, materials, standards and exclusions.
Where it matters on a general contracting job
A tight scope is the best protection against disputes. Write what is excluded as clearly as what is included, and point to it when a change comes up instead of arguing from memory.
