What quantity takeoff means
A quantity takeoff is the count and measurement of every material on a job, taken from plans or site measurements, that the estimate is priced from.
Also called takeoff, material takeoff.
Where it matters on a general contracting job
Missed items in the takeoff come straight out of your profit. Use a consistent checklist by trade, add waste by material, and keep the takeoff with the estimate so you can check it after the job.
