What concrete PSI means
Concrete PSI is the mix's compressive strength, how much load it can carry per square inch once cured, used to order the right mix.
Also called compressive strength, mix strength.
Where it matters on a concrete job
Garage floors, porches and driveways in freeze thaw areas need stronger, air entrained mixes. Order by the strength and air content the code and the job call for, and put it on the estimate.
What the model code says
- The code table sets 2,500 psi for basement and interior slabs on grade. (IRC 2021, Chapter 4)
- Porches, carport slabs, steps and garage floors range from 2,500 to 3,500 psi by weathering severity. (IRC 2021, Chapter 4)
Check which code edition your building department enforces for concrete PSI before you quote.
What it costs
For concrete PSI, the closest koira.ai price is the concrete driveway cost guide, near $5,200 for a typical job and $2,700 to $6,900 for most. The guide shows its sources and what moves the price. The concrete slab cost calculator prices a job line by line.
