What quarter round means
Quarter round is a small trim with a quarter circle profile nailed along the bottom of baseboard to hide the gap at the floor.
Also called shoe molding.
Where it matters on a carpentry job
Floating floors need an expansion gap at the walls, and quarter round or shoe molding covers it without removing the base. Price it by the linear foot on flooring jobs.
What it costs
Jobs that involve quarter round are priced in the laminate flooring installation cost guide: about $2,600 typical, usually $1,500 to $4,100. The guide shows its sources and what moves the price.
