What OSB means
OSB, oriented strand board, is a structural panel made of wood strands pressed in cross layers with resin. It is the most common wall and roof sheathing.
Also called oriented strand board.
Where it matters on a carpentry job
OSB swells at the edges when it gets wet and stays swollen, which shows through roofing and flooring. Keep it covered on site and replace swollen sheets rather than sanding them flat.
