What drives the price
- Size. A single door for a one-car garage is the cheap end. A wide two-car door costs more, and two single doors on a two-car garage cost more again because each has its own track and springs.
- Material. Steel is the common choice and the middle of the range. Wood and composite run highest, and wood needs refinishing to stay straight.
- Style. Plain raised-panel sectional doors are the budget pick. Carriage house and full-glass doors push the price up fast; Today's Homeowner puts carriage house doors at $1,600 to $13,000.
- Insulation and windows. An insulated door costs more but keeps an attached garage warmer and quieter. Glass panels add to the door price.
