What EPDM roofing means
EPDM is a black synthetic rubber single ply membrane for low slope roofs. Seams are joined with tape or adhesive rather than heat.
Also called rubber roof.
Where it matters on a roofing job
EPDM is forgiving to install and repair but shrinks with age, pulling at edges and flashings. On a repair call, look at the perimeter and penetrations first. Quote the patch with the right primer and tape; a generic sealant will not hold.
What it costs
Jobs that involve EPDM roofing are priced in the flat roof replacement cost guide: about $9,800 typical, usually $6,800 to $21,000. The guide shows its sources and what moves the price.
