What water mitigation means
Water mitigation is the emergency stage after a leak or flood: stopping the source, extracting water, removing wet materials that cannot be saved and drying the structure.
Also called mitigation, water extraction.
Where it matters on a restoration job
Mitigation and rebuild are often billed separately and sometimes by different companies. Moisture readings and photos each day are what the insurer pays from, so log them with the job from the first hour.
