What platform framing means
Platform framing builds a house one floor at a time: each floor deck is framed and sheathed, then the walls for that story are built standing on it.
Where it matters on a carpentry job
It is how almost all modern houses are framed. Older balloon framed houses, with studs running past the floors, behave differently in fires and remodels, so recognize which you are in before opening walls.
