What glulam beam means
A glulam is a beam made of lumber boards glued together in layers, used for long spans and exposed beams.
Also called glued laminated timber.
Where it matters on a carpentry job
Glulams often stay visible, so appearance grade and protection on site matter. They are heavy; plan the lift and the crew size before the delivery truck shows up.
