What drives the price
- Area. HomeAdvisor puts interior painting at $2 to $6 a square foot with paint and materials.
- Prep. Patching, sanding, caulking and moving furniture can take longer than the painting.
- Color change. Going from dark to light needs primer and an extra coat.
- Ceilings and trim. Painting ceilings, doors and trim at the same time adds to the price.
- Paint quality. Better paint costs more per gallon but covers better.
