What smoke chamber means
The smoke chamber is the sloped space above the damper that funnels smoke from the wide firebox into the narrower flue.
Where it matters on a chimney job
Rough, stepped brick in the smoke chamber collects creosote and can cause draft problems. Parging it smooth is a specialized repair that is worth explaining with photos.
What it costs
Koira's chimney repair cost guide puts a typical job at $600, with most between $210 to $980. The guide shows its sources and what moves the price.
